Lead Paint Abatement

Controlled lead-hazard reduction for homes, multifamily properties, and commercial spaces.

What this involves

Lead Abatement done right, the first time.

Most homes in our service area built before 1978 have lead paint somewhere. It becomes a hazard when it chips, chalks, or is disturbed during renovation. PRG performs controlled lead-hazard reduction with full containment, worker protection, and cleanup practices designed to pass clearance.

When to call

Signs you need help now.

  • Peeling or chipping paint on windows, doors, or trim in a pre-1978 building
  • A child in the home with an elevated blood lead result
  • Planned renovation that will disturb painted surfaces
  • A landlord or co-op notice requiring lead-safe work

How we work

Our lead abatement process.

  1. 01

    Scope and plan

We review any inspection report and define which components will be removed, enclosed, or encapsulated.

  2. 02

    Contained work

Areas are sealed, HEPA filtration runs, and crews work in protective gear using lead-safe methods.

  3. 03

    Cleanup and clearance

Surfaces are HEPA-cleaned and wet-wiped; we coordinate clearance testing when required.

Common questions

Lead Abatement questions, answered.

Do I have to move out?

For work inside occupied living spaces, families usually stay elsewhere until clearance. We plan the schedule around that.

Abatement or encapsulation?

Encapsulation seals intact paint and is cheaper; abatement removes the hazard permanently. We recommend based on condition and your plans for the property.

Is this required by law?

New York and New Jersey both regulate lead work in older housing, especially where children live. We follow those requirements on every job.
